About 48,500 iDevices Pro Ambient Temperature Probes and Pro Meat Probes are being recalled because a plastic insulator inside the stainless steel rod can melt and fall into food during normal use. These probes were sold both separately and as part of iGrill2 thermometer sets between May 2014 and June 2014. The firm has received 11 reports of the probes overheating and melting, though no injuries have been reported to date. iDevices is offering free replacements to all affected consumers.
The internal plastic insulator is not sufficiently heat resistant and can melt, potentially contaminating food with plastic fragments that pose a serious ingestion hazard.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled temperature probes and contact iDevices for a free replacement.

Recalled probes have only two crimps where connected to the braided cable.
