Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 61,097 of its 2026 Palisade and 2026 Palisade Hybrid vehicles equipped with Limited or Calligraphy trim packages. The second and third row power seats may fail to detect a person in their path, causing the seat to continue moving even after making contact with a person during functions like one-touch tilt-and-slide or automatic folding. Hyundai will update the seat controller and vehicle software over-the-air (OTA) or at a dealership free of charge to correct the issue.

Risk

A person, particularly a child, may become trapped by the moving rear power seats, which increases the risk of serious injury or death.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2026 Hyundai Palisade or Palisade Hybrid with the Limited or Calligraphy trim package.
  2. Exercise extreme caution when operating the second and third row power seat functions until the recall repair has been completed.
  3. Ensure children are not in the rear seats or near the rear seating area during any power-folding seat operations.
  4. Look for a notification from Hyundai regarding an over-the-air (OTA) software update, or contact a Hyundai dealer to schedule a free software update for the seat controller and navigation system.
  5. Contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 regarding recall number 296 if you have questions.
  6. Visit NHTSA.gov on or after March 19, 2026, to search for your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to confirm if it is affected.
  7. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
