Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 2,931 vehicles, including certain 2025 Elantra N and 2026 Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), and Elantra models. The B-pillar impact sensors in these vehicles may have been misassembled, which can cause a delay in air bag deployment during a crash. Owners will be notified to take their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer for a free inspection and replacement of the sensors if necessary.

Risk

The misassembled sensors can delay the deployment of air bags during a collision. If air bags do not deploy as intended, there is a significantly increased risk of injury to the vehicle's occupants during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov or the Hyundai recall website to see if your specific 2025 Elantra N, 2026 Elantra, or 2026 Tucson (Gas, Hybrid, or PHEV) is affected.
  2. If your vehicle is part of the recall, contact a Hyundai dealer to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the B-pillar impact sensors.
  3. You may contact Hyundai customer service at 855-371-9460 and reference recall number 299.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
