Summary

Approximately 105,000 Husky Securelock vertical bike hooks are being recalled because they can unexpectedly detach from the wall track system. This defect allows mounted bicycles to fall, which can damage property or strike people nearby. There have been 22 reports of these hooks falling, including 12 reports of damage to bicycles and vehicles, although no injuries have been reported. These black metal hooks were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores between April 2011 and March 2015.

Risk

The hook's mounting plate can fail to remain secure in the wall track grooves, causing the bike to fall suddenly. This creates a risk of impact injuries to anyone standing or walking near the storage system.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify the affected product by looking for a black metal plate measuring 3 by 3.5 inches with a protruding hook, used with the Husky Trackwall garage storage system. The Trackwall itself will have 'Husky' printed in the lower left corner.
  2. Immediately stop using the recalled Husky Securelock vertical bike hooks and remove any bicycles currently hanging from them.
  3. Return the recalled hooks to any Home Depot store to receive a full refund of the purchase price.
  4. For more information, contact Waterloo Industries at 800-833-8851 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.homedepot.com and click on 'product recalls'.
  5. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional questions regarding this recall.
