Holosun Firearm Dot Sights Recalled for Battery Ingestion Hazard

Summary

Holosun Technologies is recalling about 9,400 Firearm Dot Sights, specifically the Red Dot (model HS503G-ACSS) and Gold Dot (model HE512C-GD) versions. The sights contain lithium coin batteries that are too easily accessible and lack required safety warnings, violating federal safety regulations under Reese's Law. While no incidents or injuries have been reported, Holosun is offering a free remedy kit or professional tray replacement depending on the model. These matte black accessories were sold at stores nationwide and online from February 2023 through August 2024.

Risk

The lithium coin battery compartment can be opened too easily, allowing children to access and swallow the battery. If ingested, these batteries can cause severe internal chemical burns, serious permanent injury, or death within two hours. The packaging also lacks mandatory federal child-resistant labeling and safety warnings.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled products are Holosun Firearm Dot Sights in matte black, including Red Dot models (HS503G-ACSS) and Gold Dot models (HE512C-GD). They were sold with a CR2032 lithium coin battery and an instruction manual.
  2. Immediately stop using the recalled sights and move them to a secure location that is completely inaccessible to children.
  3. For Red Dot Sight Model HS503G-ACSS: Contact Holosun Technologies at 888-869-1180 or email cpscinquiries@holosun.com to receive a free recall kit that includes a new, compliant battery compartment enclosure and an updated manual.
  4. For Gold Dot Sight Model HE512C-GD: Contact Holosun Technologies to receive instructions and a free return shipping label. The company will install a compliant battery compartment tray and provide new packaging and a compliant manual.
  5. Dispose of or recycle lithium coin batteries according to your local hazardous household waste procedures rather than placing them in the regular trash.
  6. Contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional information regarding this safety recall.
