2026 Hino Commercial Trucks Recalled for Incorrect U-Bolt Maintenance Instructions

Summary

Hino Motors Sales U.S.A. is recalling 661 of its 2026 commercial trucks because the owner's manual contains incorrect instructions for retightening U-bolts. If maintenance is performed according to the faulty instructions, the U-bolts may be overtightened and eventually break. Dealers will provide a corrected owner's manual free of charge to all affected vehicle owners.

Risk

Overtightened U-bolts can snap while the vehicle is in operation, causing the axle and leaf springs to shift out of position. This sudden mechanical failure can lead to a loss of vehicle control and increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle to see if it is one of the affected 2026 Hino models: NV7G, NV7D, NJ7E, NJ7D, NH7K, NE7D, or NH7G.
  2. Contact an authorized Hino dealer to obtain a replacement owner's manual with corrected maintenance instructions free of charge.
  3. If you have questions, contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9390 and refer to recall number M0490.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for more information.
