Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 18 of its 2023 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks due to a manufacturing defect in the high-voltage battery pack. These battery packs may experience an internal electrical short-circuit specifically when they are fully or nearly fully charged. Ford dealers will replace the entire high-voltage battery pack in affected vehicles free of charge to resolve the issue.

Risk

An electrical short-circuit within the high-voltage battery pack significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire, which can occur while the vehicle is parked or in motion.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if you own a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck.
  2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free replacement of the high-voltage battery pack.
  3. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23S15 for more information.
  4. If you have additional questions, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
