Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 9 of its 2022-2023 VNRE electric vehicles because a coolant line in the high-voltage battery pack may not be properly secured. If the line becomes loose, it can cause a coolant leak that results in an electrical short circuit. Volvo will inspect and replace the affected battery packs free of charge.

Risk

A coolant leak within the high-voltage battery pack can cause an electrical short circuit, which significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire. This defect poses a safety hazard even if the vehicle is not in motion.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by identifying the model as a 2022-2023 Volvo VNRE truck.
  2. Contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586 to discuss the recall and schedule an inspection for your high-voltage battery pack.
  3. Bring your vehicle to an authorized dealer for a free inspection and, if necessary, a full replacement of the battery pack.
  4. For additional information or questions, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
