Summary

Audi is recalling approximately 26,866 model year 2019-2022 E-Tron Quattro and 2020-2022 E-Tron Sportback Quattro electric vehicles. Certain high-voltage battery modules in these vehicles may overheat, which can lead to a fire. To address this, dealers will install diagnostic software to monitor battery health and will replace any faulty battery modules at no cost to owners.

Risk

A defect in the high-voltage battery modules can cause them to overheat during use or charging. This overheating significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire, which could lead to injuries or property damage.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's documentation or the driver's side door jamb to confirm if you own a 2019-2022 Audi E-Tron Quattro or a 2020-2022 Audi E-Tron Sportback Quattro.
  2. Contact an authorized Audi dealer to schedule an appointment for the installation of onboard diagnostic software designed to monitor your battery's performance.
  3. If the diagnostic software identifies a defect, the dealer will replace the affected high-voltage battery modules free of charge.
  4. For more information or to check your VIN, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall numbers 93U9 or 93V2.
  5. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional details.
