Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 14,912 electric vehicles, including various 2023-2025 EQE, EQS, and AMG SUV models. A software error in the battery management system can cause the high-voltage battery to shut down unexpectedly while driving, leading to a sudden loss of drive power. Owners will receive a free software update to correct the battery management system.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power while moving increases the risk of a crash, as the vehicle may become a stationary hazard in traffic or lose the ability to accelerate out of dangerous situations.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is one of the affected electric vehicles: 2024 EQE (350 4MATIC, 350+, 500 4MATIC), EQS (450 4MATIC, 450+, 580 4MATIC), AMG EQE 53 4MATIC, AMG EQS 53 4MATIC; 2023-2025 EQE SUV (350 4MATIC, 350+, 500 4MATIC), EQS SUV (450 4MATIC, 450+, 580 4MATIC); or 2024-2025 EQS SUV 680 4MATIC and AMG EQE SUV 53 4MATIC.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free appointment to have your battery management system software updated.
  3. If you have questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and mention recall number 2024060002.
