Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 154,032 Jeep Wrangler 4XE (2020-2024) and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE (2022-2024) vehicles due to a high voltage battery defect. The battery may fail internally, which can cause a vehicle fire while driving or while the car is parked. To resolve this, dealers will update the battery software and replace the battery pack assembly if necessary, free of charge.

Risk

The high voltage battery pack can fail internally and catch fire, even when the vehicle is turned off. Because of this fire risk, owners should park their vehicles outdoors and away from garages or other structures until the repair is finished.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website (www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) or by contacting Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 regarding recall 95B.
  2. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage or near buildings due to the risk of a vehicle fire.
  3. Do not recharge your vehicle's high voltage battery until the recall repair has been completed.
  4. Contact an authorized dealership to schedule a free repair; dealers will update the battery pack software and, if necessary, replace the entire battery pack assembly.
  5. Note that if your vehicle was previously repaired under recall 23V-787, you must still have this new remedy performed as it replaces previous instructions.
  6. For further assistance, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
