Summary

Renogy is recalling approximately 1,800 high voltage battery packs because the internal battery relay contactors can become stuck in the closed position. This defect occurs in battery packs with model number RBT210LFP51S-12 and part number RBT210LFP51S-12-G1-U. If the relays remain stuck closed, there is a significant danger of a fire starting while the battery is charging. Dealers will provide a free firmware update to resolve this issue.

Risk

The battery's internal relays may fail to open properly, which can cause electrical issues that lead to a fire during the charging process.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your battery pack for model number RBT210LFP51S-12 and part number RBT210LFP51S-12-G1-U to determine if it is included in this recall.
  2. Contact Renogy customer service at 1-909-760-6898 to arrange for a free firmware update to be performed by a dealer.
  3. If you are a vehicle manufacturer who installed these batteries, ensure you have received the notification sent in February 2024 and contact Renogy to coordinate repairs for your customers.
