Summary

Health Solutions Pharmacy Center Inc (dba Professional Compounding Pharmacy) is recalling several sterile veterinary drugs, including various eye ointments, eye solutions, and injectable medications. These products are being recalled because an FDA inspection observed insanitary conditions and a lack of processing controls during the sterile compounding process. All lots within expiry distributed between September 1, 2018, and February 20, 2019, are affected. These medications were primarily distributed in Oregon and Washington.

Risk

The use of sterile products that have been prepared under insanitary conditions poses a risk of serious infection to animals, as the products may be contaminated with bacteria or other pathogens. This is particularly dangerous for injectable medications and ophthalmic (eye) products that bypass the body's natural defenses.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify your product by checking the label for these specific names: Gentamicin 3% Ophthalmic Ointment, Cyclsoporine eye ointment, Tacrolimus eye solution (0.04% or 0.02%), Tacrolimus eye ointment 0.02%, Acetylcysteine-Tobramycin-Dexamethasone eye drops, Apomorphine 3 mg/ml injectable, Acetyl-L-Cysteine Tobramycin 5-03% Ophthalmic Solution, Tobramycin 0.3% Ophthalmic Solutions, Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution (2% or 0.2%), Methocarbamol 100 MG/ML Injection Solution, or YOHIMBINE 10 MG/ML PRESERVED INJECTABLE.
  2. Check the distribution date of your medication; this recall applies to all lots within their expiration date that were distributed between September 1, 2018, and February 20, 2019.
  3. Immediately stop using these medications for your animals and contact your veterinarian or healthcare provider to discuss alternative treatments.
  4. Return any unused portions of the recalled medication to Professional Compounding Pharmacy (996 Nw Circle Blvd Ste 105, Corvallis, Oregon) for a refund.
  5. Contact Professional Compounding Pharmacy at 541-757-0111 if you have questions regarding the return process or your specific lot number.
  6. Call the FDA's consumer complaint coordinator for your region or the FDA's general hotline at 1-888-INFO-FDA (1-888-463-6332) for further assistance.
