Ducati North America: Panigale V2 Motorcycles Recalled for Headlight Malfunction

Summary

Ducati North America is recalling approximately 3,315 of its 2020-2023 Panigale V2 motorcycles. The dashboard software in these vehicles may automatically switch the lighting from low beam headlights to the headlight daylight position lamp (DRL) while the bike is in its automatic setting mode. This defect causes the motorcycle to fail federal safety standards and will be fixed by dealers through a free dashboard software update.

Risk

When the lights unexpectedly switch from full low beams to daytime running lamps during night riding, the rider's visibility is significantly reduced. This sudden loss of illumination increases the risk of a crash or serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your motorcycle is a 2020-2023 Ducati Panigale V2.
  2. Contact an authorized Ducati dealer to schedule an appointment for a free dashboard software update.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446 and mention recall number SRV-RCL-23-003.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
