Ford Motor Company: Expedition, Navigator, and Super Duty Vehicles Recalled for Missing Instructions

Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 691,133 vehicles, including 2018-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models with third-row seating, and 2019-2023 F-Series SuperCab trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550). These vehicles were distributed with owner's manuals that fail to include required instructions for adjusting or removing the head restraints in certain seating positions. Ford will provide affected owners with a printed manual addendum that includes the missing safety information at no cost.

Risk

Without the correct instructions, head restraints may be improperly adjusted or installed. This increases the risk of neck or head injuries to occupants during a vehicle crash because the restraint may not be in the proper position to support the head.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your model and year: 2018-2023 Ford Expedition (with third-row seating), 2018-2023 Lincoln Navigator (with third-row seating), or 2019-2023 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 SuperCab models.
  2. Check your mail for an Owner's Manual addendum from Ford, which contains the specific instructions for adjusting and removing the head restraints for center seating positions.
  3. Place the received addendum inside your vehicle's glovebox with the original owner's manual for future reference.
  4. If you have questions or have not received your addendum, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23C20.
  5. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
