Summary

Harbor Breeze is recalling approximately 280,000 Kingsbury 70-inch indoor ceiling fans because the light globe can detach and fall, posing a risk of impact and laceration injuries. There have been 76 reports of the light globe falling, resulting in four laceration injuries. These bronze-finish fans were sold exclusively at Lowe's stores and online from April 2010 through December 2018 for about $230. Consumers should contact HKC-US to request a new owner's manual and a light kit label to ensure the globe is installed correctly and securely.

Risk

The light globe can unexpectedly fall from its housing due to improper installation or securing mechanisms. This can cause impact or laceration injuries to anyone below the fan, as evidenced by four reported injuries.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the top of your fan's motor housing for a label with the manufacture date in MM-YYYY format to see if it was made before December 2018.
  2. Identify your fan by its features: a 70-inch blade span, bronze finish, five reversible blades in distressed mocha, and a frosted glass light bowl.
  3. Immediately contact HKC-US toll-free at 877-239-7267 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or email HKCRecall@hkcus.com to request a new owner's manual and a light kit label to ensure correct installation.
  4. Visit www.hkcfans.com for more information regarding the light globe installation instructions and recall details.
  5. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 if you have additional questions about this recall.
