Hallmark Recalls Plush Baby Stacking Toys Due to Choking Hazard

Summary

Hallmark is recalling about 5,800 itty bittys® baby Disney-licensed plush stacking toys because small fabric parts can detach. The toy consists of a yellow base and four rattling rings featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck. Small fabric hats and bows on the characters can come off, creating a choking risk for infants. These toys were sold at Hallmark Gold Crown stores, Hallmark.com, and Amazon.com between June 2016 and July 2017 for approximately $30. Hallmark will provide a $40 gift card to consumers who return the recalled product.

Risk

The small plush fabric hats and bows attached to the Disney characters can detach from the rings. If these small pieces come off, they pose a choking hazard to young children, and Hallmark has already received one report of a fabric bow detaching.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the itty bittys® baby plush stacking toys and take them away from children.
  2. Identify the affected toy by checking for a yellow base stand with four rattling rings (red, blue, pink, and purple) featuring Disney characters Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy.
  3. Verify the toy by looking at the sewn-on tag attached to the yellow base, which should feature the Hallmark logo and the 'itty bittys' brand name.
  4. Contact Hallmark at 800-425-5627 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.hallmark.com and click on 'Product Recalls' at the bottom of the page to request a prepaid shipping label.
  5. Return the recalled toy using the prepaid label to receive a $40 Hallmark Gold Crown gift card.
  6. For additional questions or concerns, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
