General Motors, LLC: 2023 Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia Recalled for Potential Drive Power Loss

Summary

General Motors is recalling 10 specific 2023 Cadillac XT5 and 2023 GMC Acadia vehicles because the right-front half-shaft may not be properly connected to the transmission. If this part separates, the vehicle can lose power while being driven or roll away unexpectedly when parked. Authorized dealers will replace the right-front half-shaft assemblies entirely free of charge to resolve this safety defect.

Risk

A separated half-shaft can cause a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion or allow the vehicle to roll away if it is placed in 'Park' without the parking brake engaged, both of which significantly increase the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2023 Cadillac XT5 or a 2023 GMC Acadia; only 10 specific units are affected by this recall.
  2. Contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 to verify if your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is part of this recall (GM recall number N222393410).
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Cadillac or GMC dealer to have the right-front half-shaft assembly replaced free of charge.
  4. Always engage your parking brake when the vehicle is stationary to prevent potential rollaway until the repair is completed.
  5. For further information or to check your VIN online, visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
