Goodman Manufacturing Company is recalling approximately 298,300 evaporator coil drain pans used with residential condensing gas furnaces. The molded plastic drain pan, located at the bottom of the evaporator coil when installed in a vertical or "up-flow" configuration, can overheat, melt, and deform. There have been 23 reports of fires involving these drain pans, resulting in significant fire and smoke damage to homes, though no injuries have been reported.
