Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 11,807 model year 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks. The rear fuel pump in these trucks may fail to transfer enough fuel to the front tank, leading to an unexpected engine stall. Dealers will update the engine control module software, or provide an over-the-air update, to resolve the issue at no cost to owners.

Risk

A sudden engine stall while driving can cause a loss of propulsion and power steering, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by entering your 17-character VIN at NHTSA.gov or by contacting your local dealer.
  2. If your vehicle is eligible for over-the-air (OTA) updates, follow the prompts on your vehicle's infotainment screen to accept and install the latest Engine Control Module (ECM) software update.
  3. If you prefer an in-person repair or if your vehicle is not OTA-capable, schedule a free service appointment with a Chevrolet or GMC dealer to have the ECM software updated.
  4. Contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and reference GM recall number N262544420.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
