Summary

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling approximately 60,490 vehicles, including certain 2021-2023 Volkswagen ID.4, 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron, and 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron Sportback models. The instrument panel in these vehicles may fail to display the transmission gear position indicator correctly. Authorized dealers will update the brake control unit software free of charge to fix the issue. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.

Risk

If the gear position is not displayed, a driver may unintentionally leave the vehicle in gear instead of park. This can lead to the vehicle rolling away if the parking brake is not engaged, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

  2. If you notice the gear indicator is missing from your dashboard display, ensure you manually engage the parking brake before exiting the vehicle to prevent it from rolling away.
