Ford Motor Company: 2023 Transit Vehicles Recalled for Fuel Tank Fire Risk

Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 1,159 of its 2023 Transit vehicles because the fuel tank grade vent valve may not be properly welded to the fuel tank shell. This defect can lead to a fuel leak, which creates a significant fire hazard. Dealers will replace the entire fuel tank for affected owners free of charge.

Risk

A fuel leak can occur due to the improper weld; if this leaking fuel comes into contact with an ignition source, it increases the risk of a fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2023 Ford Transit and verify the recall status by contacting a Ford dealer or using the NHTSA recall look-up tool.
