Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 79,676 vehicles across several model lines, including the 2021-2024 GLE, GLS, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, GLC, CLS, AMG GT, and G-Class. The fuel pump in these vehicles may shut down unexpectedly, leading to a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To resolve this safety issue, authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the fuel pump at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the fuel pump shuts down, the engine will lose power, which can cause the vehicle to stall or stop moving suddenly. This unexpected loss of drive power significantly increases the risk of a crash for the driver and other road users.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is among the affected 2021-2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE, GLS, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, GLC, CLS, AMG GT, or G-Class models.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free appointment to have your fuel pump replaced.
  3. If you have already received a notification letter (mailed in phases between February and December 2024), follow the specific instructions provided in that correspondence.
  4. For additional information, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference NHTSA recall number 23V-880.
