Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 8,622 vehicles, including certain 2024 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon models. The lock ring that secures the fuel pump to the fuel tank may not have been fully locked during the manufacturing process. If the ring is loose, it can result in a fuel leak during a crash, and dealers will inspect and secure the lock ring free of charge.

Risk

A loose fuel pump lock ring can lead to a fuel leak. In the event of a crash, leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make and model to see if it is a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado or 2024 GMC Canyon.
  2. Locate your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or the GMC Customer Call Center at 1-888-988-7267 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in recall N242451330.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Chevrolet or GMC dealer for a free inspection and repair, where technicians will ensure the fuel tank lock ring is fully secured.
