Summary

International Thermal Research (ITR) is recalling approximately 179 Oasis Chinook Hydronic Heaters because an air line may have been installed instead of the required fuel line. This manufacturing error can lead to a fuel leak while the heater is in operation. The affected heaters are part number 59600 and were used in various vehicle and marine applications. Dealers will inspect the unit and replace the fuel line as needed, free of charge.

Risk

The incorrect line is not designed to carry fuel safely, which can result in a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source significantly increases the risk of a fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your heater's documentation or the unit itself to confirm if it is an Oasis Chinook Hydronic Heater with part number 59600.
  2. If you own an affected heater, contact an authorized International Thermal Research (ITR) dealer to schedule a free inspection and fuel line replacement.
  3. You may contact ITR customer service directly at 1-604-278-1272 if you have questions regarding the repair process.
  4. For additional information, you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
