Summary

New Flyer of America is recalling 27 of its 2023 XD35, XD40, and XD60 buses equipped with specific Cummins L9 diesel engines. These vehicles have remote fuel filter hoses that can separate from their fittings, causing a fuel leak and cutting off the fuel supply to the engine. Cummins will replace these fuel filter hoses for all affected vehicles free of charge.

Risk

If the fuel filter hose detaches, leaking fuel can ignite and cause a fire if it reaches a heat source. Additionally, the loss of fuel will cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own or operate a 2023 New Flyer XD35, XD40, or XD60 transit bus equipped with a Cummins L9 diesel engine.
  2. Contact New Flyer customer service at 1-800-241-2947 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in this recall and to schedule a free repair.
  3. Bring your vehicle to a service provider to have Cummins technicians replace the fuel filter hoses at no cost to you.
