Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 14 specific 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying in a crash. Owners of these vehicles should contact their dealer to confirm if their specific vehicle was part of this small batch and has already been serviced.

Risk

If the side air bag connector is not properly secured, the air bags may fail to deploy during a side-impact collision, which significantly increases the risk of occupant injury. This defect causes the vehicles to fail Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214 regarding side impact protection.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) to see if your 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee or Grand Cherokee L is affected by contacting FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or visiting nhtsa.gov/recalls.
  2. Identify if your vehicle has already been serviced, as the manufacturer notes that 'All affected vehicles have been remedied' as of the recall notification date.
  3. If you have questions regarding the repair or the B3B recall campaign, contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
  4. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
