Summary

Volkswagen Group of America (Audi) is recalling approximately 3,773 of its 2022-2023 RS E-TRON GT and E-TRON GT vehicles. A fault in the wiring for the passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may cause the front passenger air bag to deactivate even when the seat is occupied. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat cushion with an updated version free of charge to resolve the safety issue.

Risk

If the passenger occupant detection system fails, the front passenger air bag may not deploy during a collision. This significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death to the front passenger during a crash.
