Summary

Volvo Car USA is recalling 346 of its 2019-2024 S60 vehicles because the front passenger air bag may not have been secured properly during manufacturing. Approximately 70 of these vehicles are estimated to have the defect, where bolts securing the air bag might be loose or missing. Volvo dealers will inspect and tighten these bolts as necessary at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Risk

If the passenger air bag is not properly secured, it may not deploy correctly during a crash. An improperly deployed air bag significantly reduces the safety protection for the front seat passenger and increases the risk of serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by identifying your car as a 2019-2024 Volvo S60 model.
  2. Contact any authorized Volvo dealer to schedule a free inspection of the passenger air bag mounting bolts.
  3. Provide the dealer with Volvo’s internal recall number R10254 to ensure the correct service is performed.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552.
  5. For further information, you may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
