Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 1,280,726 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles from the 2013-2018 model years. The front brake hoses on these vehicles can rupture and leak brake fluid, which may cause the brake pedal to travel further than expected and significantly increase the distance required to stop. Ford dealers will replace the affected front brake hoses with a new design for free to ensure vehicle safety.

Risk

A ruptured hose leads to a brake fluid leak, which reduces braking power and extends stopping distances, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2013-2018 Ford Fusion or 2013-2018 Lincoln MKZ vehicle.
  2. Check your vehicle's VIN or contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in recall 23S12.
  3. Schedule a service appointment with an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the front brake hoses replaced free of charge.
  4. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23S12.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
