Summary

Yamaha is recalling 211 of its 2022 Tenere 700 (XTZ7N) motorcycles because the front brake calipers may have been assembled with bolts that have the wrong thread length. These incorrect bolts can damage the threads in the brake caliper's mounting holes, which may lead to the calipers detaching from the vehicle. Authorized dealers will inspect the bolt lengths and replace them, and if any damage is found in the caliper mounting holes, the entire caliper will be replaced for free.

Risk

If a front brake caliper detaches while the motorcycle is in motion, the rider will experience a loss of braking ability, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Because this defect involves a potential total failure of the front braking system, owners should not ride the motorcycle until the repair is completed.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop driving this vehicle immediately and park it until the recall repair is completed.
  2. Confirm your motorcycle is a 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 (model XTZ7N) affected by this recall.
  3. Contact an authorized Yamaha dealer to schedule a free inspection. The dealer will check the front brake caliper bolt lengths and the integrity of the caliper mounting threads.
  4. If the bolts are found to be the incorrect length, the dealer will replace them; if the caliper threads are damaged, the entire caliper will be replaced at no cost to you.
  5. For further questions or to find a dealer, contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926 and reference recall number 990168.
