Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 35,829 of its 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicles due to a manufacturing defect where a frame stud was incorrectly positioned. This specific stud on the frame assembly can puncture the fuel tank during a crash, leading to a fuel leak. Owners of affected vehicles will be able to have their vehicles inspected and repaired by a dealer at no cost.

Risk

In the event of a collision, the frame stud can pierce the fuel tank and cause fuel to leak; if this fuel encounters an ignition source, it significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or VIN to confirm if you own a 2020, 2021, or 2022 Jeep Wrangler.
  2. Contact any authorized Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's frame assembly.
  3. If the frame stud is found to be out of position, the dealer will remove the stud and apply protective paint to the area at no charge to you.
  4. You may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 28A for more information.
  5. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov with any additional safety concerns.
