Summary

Fox Factory has recalled approximately 11,250 Evolution 2013 Mountain Bike Suspension Forks because the internal parts can separate, causing the front wheel to detach while in use. These 32 and 34 Evolution Series forks were sold as original equipment on numerous 2013 model year mountain bike brands, including Trek, Specialized, and Santa Cruz, as well as separate accessories. One shoulder injury has been reported in Italy due to this defect. Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with these forks and return them to the place of purchase for a free repair.

Risk

The suspension fork's internal damper cylinder and piston can separate during use. If this occurs, the front wheel can completely detach from the bicycle, causing the rider to fall and suffer serious injuries.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your mountain bike to see if it is a 2013 model from brands including BMC, Cannondale, Commencal, Diamondback, GT, Kona, Lapierre, Norco, Orbea, Raleigh, Rocky Mountain, Santa Cruz, Scott, Specialized, or Trek.
  2. Identify if you have a 32 or 34 Evolution Series fork by looking for the 'Evolution' name and logo on a sticker on the front fork along with the FOX brand name.
  3. Locate the serial number on your fork by removing the front wheel and looking at the underside of the crown. You can verify if your specific serial number is affected by visiting www.ridefox.com and using the lookup tool at the lower left of the page.
  4. Immediately stop using any bicycle equipped with a recalled Fox Factory suspension fork.
  5. Bring the bicycle or the detached fork to the place of purchase or any authorized bicycle retailer for a free repair.
  6. If you cannot bring the product to a store, contact FOX toll-free at 855-360-3488 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday for instructions on how to return the product for repair.
  7. For additional questions, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
