Summary

Forest Mushroom Food Inc. is recalling approximately 3,085 boxes of Guan's Enoki Mushrooms because the products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The recall includes 100-gram and 200-gram packages of mushrooms distributed nationwide. Consumers who have purchased these mushrooms should not consume them, as they can cause serious illness, particularly in vulnerable populations. Affected products can be identified by a clear package featuring a blue band at the bottom of the front and back of the packaging.

Risk

The mushrooms are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your refrigerator for Guan's Enoki Mushroom (Champignon d'enoki) in 100 g (3.5 oz.) or 200 g (7 oz.) clear packages with a blue band at the bottom of the front and back.
  2. Identify affected products by checking for UPC 859267007020 on 100-gram packages or UPC 810023170303 on 200-gram packages. This recall applies to ALL date codes of these products.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled mushrooms and dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
  4. Clean and sanitize any surfaces, such as refrigerator shelves or cutting boards, that may have come into contact with the recalled mushrooms to prevent cross-contamination.
