Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 604,533 vehicles, including 2020-2022 Ford Explorer and Escape models, as well as Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Corsair models. The windshield wiper motors in these vehicles may fail, causing the wipers to stop working correctly. Owners will be notified by mail and can receive a free inspection and motor replacement at their local dealership.

Risk

If the windshield wipers fail to operate, the driver's visibility will be significantly reduced during rain or snow. This lack of visibility increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website to see if your specific vehicle is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free appointment to have your front wiper motors inspected and replaced if necessary.
  3. If you have already received an interim notification letter, wait for a follow-up letter (expected in May 2026) confirming that the final remedy parts are available at dealerships.
  4. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26S14 if you have additional questions.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information regarding this safety recall.
