Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 254,640 vehicles, including certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2025 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer models. A software issue in the Image Processing Module A can cause the system to reset unexpectedly, leading to a total loss of the rearview camera image and critical safety features. To fix this, dealers will update the software, or the update will be sent automatically to the vehicle through an over-the-air (OTA) update at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the rearview camera or advanced safety features like pre-collision assist and blind-spot monitoring fail, the driver may not be able to detect hazards around the vehicle. This loss of visibility and driver assistance increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Determine if your vehicle is included in this recall by checking your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov beginning March 25, 2026.
  2. Check for specific models: 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Lincoln Aviator, and 2025 Ford Explorer.

  4. Contact an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the Image Processing Module A software updated free of charge, or confirm if your vehicle can receive the fix via an over-the-air (OTA) software update.
  5. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26S21 if you have questions.
