Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 889,950 vehicles, including certain 2020-2022 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair models, as well as 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer vehicles. The rearview camera image on the center display may flip or invert when the vehicle is placed in reverse, failing to comply with federal safety standards for rear visibility. A remedy for this issue is currently under development, and Ford began mailing interim notification letters to owners on April 6, 2026.

Risk

An incorrectly displayed or inverted rearview image can significantly reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, making it difficult to detect obstacles or pedestrians and increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website to see if your specific vehicle is included in this recall.
  2. If your vehicle is affected, wait for an interim notification letter from Ford (mailed starting April 6, 2026) regarding the safety risk.
  3. Once a final remedy is available, which is anticipated in the second quarter of 2026, you will receive a second letter with instructions on how to receive a free repair from an authorized dealer.
  4. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26C11.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
