Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 25,191 vehicles, including certain 2022-2026 Ford Escape and 2023-2026 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid models. A manufacturing defect in the high voltage battery cells can cause an internal short circuit, leading to battery failure. While a final repair is still being developed, owners are being instructed to limit their battery charge to 80% and only use specific driving modes to reduce risk.

Risk

A battery failure can cause the vehicle to suddenly lose drive power while moving, which increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, the short circuit within the battery cells increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA website (www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) to see if your 2022-2026 Ford Escape or 2023-2026 Lincoln Corsair is included in this recall.
  2. Until a final repair is available, only use 'Auto EV' mode and limit your vehicle's maximum battery charge to 80% capacity.
  3. Monitor your mail for an interim notification letter, which was sent starting February 26, 2026, and follow all provided safety instructions.
  4. Once a final remedy is developed, you will receive a second letter; at that time, contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule your free repair.
