Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 3,170 of its 2025-2026 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles. The Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) in these vehicles may fail to correctly identify whether an adult or child is sitting in the front passenger seat. Ford dealers will replace the faulty sensor free of charge to ensure the safety systems function as required by federal safety standards.

Risk

If the sensor fails to detect a passenger, the front passenger airbag may not deploy during a crash. This failure to deploy as intended significantly increases the risk of injury for the occupant in the event of an accident.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website to see if your specific 2025-2026 Bronco Sport or Maverick is included in this recall.
  2. Contact any Ford dealer to schedule a free replacement of the passenger seat occupant classification sensor.
  3. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26C19.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
