Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling 11,431 of its 2025-2026 F-250 SD and F-350 SD trucks because a weld on the driveshaft may fail. This failure can cause the rear driveshaft to detach, leading to a sudden loss of driving power while the vehicle is in motion. Owners can have their driveshaft inspected and, if necessary, replaced by a dealer at no cost.

Risk

If the driveshaft separates from the vehicle, it causes an immediate loss of drive power. This sudden loss of propulsion while driving significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website or contact Ford to see if your truck is included in this recall.
  2. Contact any authorized Ford dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's driveshaft serial number.
  3. If the dealer determines your driveshaft is affected based on its serial number, they will replace the entire driveshaft assembly free of charge.
  4. For more information, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and mention recall number 26S13.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional questions.
