Summary

Fitness Anywhere is recalling about 40,000 early model "Professional" (P1) and "Tactical" (T1) TRX Suspension Trainer devices manufactured between January 2006 and July 2007. The recall was issued because the strap length-adjustment buckles can break during use, which has resulted in 570 reports of buckle failure and 82 reports of users falling. These devices were sold at fitness stores and online between January 2006 and December 2009 for approximately $150 to $200. Consumers should immediately stop using these trainers and contact the company for a free replacement.

Risk

The buckles used to adjust strap length can fail and break while a person is exercising, causing them to fall suddenly. This defect has already caused 13 reports of head, face, shoulder, and hip injuries.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled TRX Suspension Trainer to avoid risk of injury from a fall.
  2. Check the badges on your device's straps; recalled 'Professional' (P1) or 'Tactical' (T1) models have a TRX logo and product name surrounded by raised dots or double lines.
  3. Examine the hand grips and central joining point: recalled units have foam grips with no plastic end caps (bumpers) and lack a secondary 'locking loop' where the anchor strap meets the 'Y' straps.
  4. Contact Fitness Anywhere toll-free at (888) 221-7417 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT or email CustomerCare@trxtraining.com to obtain a required return authorization.
  5. Return the recalled device to Fitness Anywhere to receive a new, replacement TRX Suspension Trainer device free of charge.
  6. For additional questions, call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 or visit www.cpsc.gov.
