Summary

Felt Bicycles is recalling about 150 of its 2015 F65X and F85X model Cyclocross bicycles because the aluminum frame can break during use. If the frame fails, the rider can lose control and fall, leading to potential injuries. These bicycles were sold at specialty bicycle shops nationwide between June 2014 and September 2014 for between $1,200 and $1,500. Affected owners should immediately stop using these bikes and contact an authorized dealer for a free inspection and frame replacement.

Risk

The bicycle frame can snap or crack during operation, which can cause the rider to suddenly lose control of the bike and suffer a fall. While no injuries have been reported yet, a frame failure at speed poses a significant safety risk.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop riding the recalled 2015 Felt F65X or F85X Cyclocross bicycle.
  2. Identify the F65X model by its satin black aluminum frame with 'Felt' in white letters and a diagonal wide white stripe next to a thin white stripe on the frame.
  3. Identify the F85X model by its dark red berry colored aluminum frame with diagonal stripes in black, mint green, and yellow on the frame.
  4. Locate the model number printed on the chainstay (the part of the frame that runs parallel to the chain) and the Felt logo on the main frame tubes to confirm it is an affected unit.
  5. Contact your local Felt Bicycles dealer to schedule a free inspection and a full frame replacement.
  6. Contact Felt Bicycles toll-free at (866) 433-5887 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or online at www.feltracing.com and click on 'Notices' for additional information.
  7. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for any further questions regarding this recall.
