Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC: 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Recalled for Exterior Lighting Failure

Summary

Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 4,347 of its 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport vehicles because moisture can leak into the rear lighting assemblies. This moisture accumulation can cause the right-side tailgate and body-mounted lights to fail, including the brake lights, turn signals, reversing lights, and outer marker lights. To fix this safety issue, authorized dealers will replace the affected light assemblies with new units at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the exterior lights fail to illuminate, other drivers may not be able to see the vehicle or understand the driver's intentions, such as braking or turning. This significantly decreases visibility and increases the risk of a rear-end or side-impact crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
  2. Look for symptoms of the defect, such as visible moisture or condensation trapped inside the right-side tailgate or body-mounted light housings, or any flickering or failure of the rear lights.
  3. Contact an authorized Land Rover dealer to schedule a free replacement of the right-side tailgate and body-mounted light assemblies.
  4. For further assistance, contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 and reference recall number N830.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information regarding recall 23V871.
