Summary

Evenflo has recalled approximately 35,000 convertible high chairs that can transform into a toddler-size table and chair set. The activity tray on these models can unexpectedly detach, causing unrestrained children to fall and potentially suffer injuries. There have been 18 reports of trays detaching, resulting in eight children sustaining bumps and bruises. These products were sold at Toys "R" Us, Walmart, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com between December 2011 and June 2012 for about $40. Consumers should immediately stop using the high chair and contact Evenflo for a replacement tray.

Risk

The activity tray can pop off without warning, which may cause an unrestrained child to fall out of the chair. Eight children have already been reported to have sustained bumps and bruises after falling from the chairs when the tray detached.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the lower portion of one of the high chair's legs for a label containing the model name and number.
  2. Verify if your high chair is one of the affected models: Dottie Lime (model 29111259), Dottie Rose (model 29111271), or Marianna (model 29111234).
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled high chair if it matches any of these model numbers.
  4. Contact Evenflo at (800) 233-5921 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit http://safety.evenflo.com to receive a free replacement tray with installation and use instructions.
  5. For additional questions or to report a safety concern, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
