Airstream, Inc.: Basecamp Travel Trailers Recalled Due to Detaching Entry Door Windows

Summary

Airstream, Inc. is recalling approximately 1,992 travel trailers, specifically 2017-2022 Basecamp 16 and 2021-2022 Basecamp 20 models. The adhesive bond holding the glass to the metal frame of the entry door window can fail, causing the glass to completely separate and fall out of the trailer. Dealers will test the window glass and replace it if necessary at no cost to owners. This recall is an expansion of a previous safety recall issued in 2020.

Risk

If the window glass detaches from the trailer while it is being towed or parked, it can fall into the roadway or strike individuals nearby, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or personal injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your travel trailer to see if it is a 2017-2022 Basecamp 16 or a 2021-2022 Basecamp 20 model.
  2. Inspect the entry door window for any signs of the glass loosening or separating from the metal frame.
  3. Contact an authorized Airstream dealer to schedule a free inspection and, if necessary, a window replacement.
  4. If you have questions, contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 (extension 7401 or 7411).
  5. Reference recall number 22V-932 or the previous expansion number 20V-349 when speaking with the manufacturer or dealer.
  6. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
