Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 139,730 vehicles, including certain 2016-2018 Ford Focus and 2018-2022 Ford EcoSport models. The oil pump drive belt or its tensioner can fail, causing the engine to lose oil pressure suddenly. This failure can lead to an engine stall and a loss of power braking assist while driving, which significantly increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the oil pump tensioner assembly and drive belt for free, and may replace the entire engine if damage has already occurred.

Risk

A loss of oil pressure can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly and results in the loss of power braking assist, which requires the driver to apply much greater force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle.

What You Should Do
