Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 2,985 1.5L EcoBoost RFF Cylinder Heads and 1.5L RFF Long Block Engines sold as replacement parts. These components may have been manufactured incorrectly, leading to a failure of the ball plugs which causes an engine oil leak. If oil leaks onto hot engine or exhaust surfaces, it can cause a fire or lead to a sudden loss of drive power. Dealers will inspect the serial numbers of installed cylinder heads and replace the assemblies for free if necessary.

Risk

Leaking oil can ignite if it comes into contact with hot exhaust components, posing a significant fire risk. Furthermore, a substantial oil leak can cause the engine to fail or lose power, increasing the risk of a crash.
