Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 28,439 Genesis vehicles, including the 2018-2020 G80, 2017-2022 G90, and 2019-2022 G70 models equipped with 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engines. The recall is due to a defect where the left turbocharger oil feed pipe can deteriorate over time and leak oil onto hot engine components. To resolve this issue, Hyundai dealers will replace the affected oil feed pipe with a new part at no cost to owners.

Risk

Leaking oil can come into contact with extremely hot engine surfaces, which significantly increases the risk of a fire starting within the engine compartment while driving or parked.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected: This recall applies specifically to 2018-2020 Genesis G80, 2017-2022 Genesis G90, and 2019-2022 Genesis G70 vehicles equipped with the 3.3L V6 turbocharged engine.
  2. Check if your vehicle was previously repaired under recall 19V-538; even if it was, you must have this new remedy (recall 019G) completed as this replaces and expands the previous fix.
  3. Contact an authorized Genesis or Hyundai dealer to schedule a free replacement of the left turbocharger oil feed pipe.
  4. If you have questions, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and mention recall number 019G.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
