Summary

Xos, Inc. is recalling approximately 242 of its 2021-2022 SV05 and 2021 SA01 vehicles. The bolts and brackets that connect the hardware to the electronic parking brake system can become loose, which may cause the parking brake to fail completely. To fix this issue, dealers will replace the affected hardware and update the vehicle software at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the electronic parking brake fails and the manual park brake is not engaged while the vehicle is not in park, the vehicle could roll away unexpectedly. This increases the risk of a crash or injury to bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your model and year: this recall includes 2021-2022 Xos SV05 and 2021 Xos SA01 vehicles.
  2. Contact an authorized Xos dealer to schedule a free appointment to have the parking brake hardware replaced and the vehicle software updated.
  3. If you have questions, contact Xos customer service at 1-818-316-1890 and reference recall number REC 003-23.
  4. For further assistance, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
