Summary

Braun Industries, Inc. (Braun Ambulances) is recalling approximately 162 emergency vehicles, including various Chief XL, Express Plus, Liberty, and Super Chief models manufactured between 2021 and 2026. These ambulances are equipped with a Pran system where the battery isolator can fail, leading to a total loss of electrical systems. This failure can disable interior lighting, exterior lighting, and critical patient support systems. Dealers will update the vehicle software, modify the wiring, and replace the battery isolator free of charge.

Risk

A loss of exterior lighting reduces the ambulance's visibility to other drivers, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the failure of patient support systems during an emergency can delay medical care, increasing the risk of injury to patients.
